This past Sunday we put money down on a new rental somewhere up the Middle Keys. It's a great house on a big hunk of land. One of our neighbors has stables and horses. The land we're on abuts a Nature Preserve.
We are very fortunate to find something like this in the Keys.
Needless to say, we're packing. I won't have time to post for the remainder of August. More later.

Sounds like a good move.
SO you are leaving Key West?
Going to miss your commentary...good luck w/ the move
Abandoning ship? Leaving Key West? Giving Up? Oh say it isn't so Rock!
Good Luck up the keys, Rock!!
Hey gang, actually moving to the uppermost part of the Lower Keys: Cudjoe Key.
Where I'm moving is next to a nature preserve. Loads of wildlife, big, big yard. Medicine garden. Sculpture studio. Artist studio. Best boat ramp in the Lower Keys nearby.
We begin the move next Sunday or Monday....
Why leave Key West where the action is to move 20 miles north to a place where they role the streets up at night? I don't get it - sure it has mosquitoes and every critter you want but it has NOTHING on being downtown. And the commute is not pretty - have you seen the traffic? And no more walking home or enjoying the nightlife in Key West (no you don't want a DUI. Nature preserve and gardens? Ever been to Nancy's Secret Garden on Free School Lane? Did you know the house next to it is a rental you could have had (with pool, I might add).
No Rock, you just told us that your time in Key West is over so why should we listen to you rant about the island when you don't live here anymore? Sorry, I am staying put because I would rather live in Key West than in the boonies like a hayseed redneck in the lower keys. And no, you can't say you live there again! I will tell you, as someone who has lived in both the lower keys (another island than Cudjoe) and Key West, you will definately be wishing to come back home! I give you 6 months before you start crawling the walls!
And the 'uppermost part' of the Lower Keys IS NOT CUDJOE - try BIG PINE KEY! Get your geography straight before you move!
